When I first started learning about essential oils, I was skeptical. I remember asking myself, “If this is true, why didn’t my doctor tell me about this?” I talked to my friend who was teaching the class and she said, “Cheri, why don’t you just use the products and if they don’t work, you can still go to the doctor.” I decided to give the oils a try with my family, and we got results! It’s been 6 years now and essential oils have become a key solution in my family’s overall wellness.

As humans, we smell a delicious fragrance, but these compounds allow the plant to thrive in its environment. These oils can be found in the petals of flowers, leaves of a plant, roots, rinds of fruits, and more.

Essential oils can be used in a variety of ways aromatically, topically and internally. When using an essential oil aromatically, you can put a few drops into a diffuser and enjoy the benefits throughout your day, or you can open the bottle and inhale the oil for a quick pick-me-up.
Another way that essential oils can be used is topically. Some oils can be applied to the skin directly from the bottle, but because the oils can be so potent, it is best to dilute any oil with a carrier oil (i.e. coconut oil) before applying it to help with potential skin sensitivity. Always do a quick spot test with any essential oil so that you know how your own body reacts to it.
The final way that an essential oil can be used is internally. Certain oils are safe enough to be taken internally and they can offer great health benefits. Not all oils are meant to be ingested, so you need to make sure that you can use an oil internally beforehand by looking at the side of the bottle and seeing if it has a supplement fact label. It is important to make sure that you are only using Certified Pure Tested Grade (CPTG) oils to ensure you are safe. doTERRA essential oils are CPTG and they only use the purest oils. The oils that you can find at grocery stores are not the same as what you get with doTERRA!
